Artists Shed Inc Film Club at Benedict House

 DSC00927
The National Film and Sound Archives of Australia are supporting Artists Shed Inc by providing feature films from their collection for screening at Benedict House 39 Isabella Street in Queanbeyan NSW. The Film club will operate from the old refectory and when the weather warms up some courtyard screenings will also be planned.
Local film makers are encouraged to show and speak about their own short films before the features. Contact Ben on 0402586366 to organise.
Friday Night Films will be screened at 8pm every Friday night until the end of the year.
Starting tonight with “The Proposition”
Captured outlaw Charlie Burns, whose gang is held responsible for a gruesome atrocity, is made a proposition by the pragmatic police captain: find and kill his psychotic elder brother Arthur within nine days, or watch his younger, more innocent brother Mike, swing from the gallows. Guy Pearce and Danny Huston are outstanding as the very different Burns brothers Charlie and Arthur, balanced by the barely restrained Ray Winstone and Emily Watson as the English police captain and his wife, trying to bring civilisation to the outback. Director John Hillcoat collaborates again with writer Nick Cave (Ghosts… of the Civil Dead) who also contributed to the music score. Stylish, sparse and intense.
