The wallflower

dusky autumn lamp

Since we started finding Lost Things, the lamp workshop has kept us busy re-making and re-building vintage lamps. Crafting a lamp is the perfect indoor occupation when the weather sets in or you are housebound, if you find yourself at a loose end, or have unexpected visitors drop by.

In this case it was the latter. Together with my mother, we spent a happy afternoon making lamps. This is hers – made with a modest, dusky pink fabric which, when illuminated, is utterly transformed. The finished lamp is gloriously warm and comforting, humble and beautiful at the same time.
Just like her, in fact.
